WHY: IT TAKES A “VILLAGE” OF VOLUNTEERS TO PUT ON THIS EVENT

Plum Creek CDE is again looking for volunteers to help us put on this event next month. If you haven’t been able to get your equine ready for the event, then consider volunteering. Or, if you’re not a CDE competitor but enjoy horses, then consider volunteering. Once again, all volunteers will be fed lunch the days they volunteer and receive an event hat. Plum Creek will also hold a VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION DAY on Saturday, May 8th. This has always been a fun day when volunteers get to bring their own equines out to Agarita and enjoy the trails and arena.

Please contact Lisa Cox or by phone (512)923-8674 if you’re interested in volunteering. And please feel free to pass this on to any of your friends. You don’t have to be a horse person to volunteer. Instructions are always given before each of the events start.

Sunday, March 21: painting signs and some clearing, so bring your tools. Complete the paperwork, and get all that stuff organized.

Sat-Sun, March 27-28: these will be the spit shine work days. Make sure everything is done, trails cleared, and everything safe. As everywhere, there has been a lot of rain at Plum Creek, making it green and lovely, and in some spots overgrown and washed out trails. So bring gloves, tools, etc. Bring your horses to ride/drive. Can’t drive on the course, but there are really nice, quiet roads surrounding the ranch.

We are a small group of driving enthusiasts who are interested in getting together at least once monthly at various locations to drive and share with our passion.

Our goal is to make all of our gatherings as inexpensive as possible, yet to be able to walk away after having a fun day and learning something new. We will be open to driving at any and all locations that are available. This will be great experience for all of our horses.

We are not limiting the size of animal (ie: mini’s only) so come one and all. This will allow our horses and ponies to be able to see other traps. We would like to see all sizes and types of horse/pony combo’s whether you drive for show, pleasure, CDE, etc.

We will be kicking off this informal group with a seminar on basics. I feel that no matter how experienced any of us are (or not) that we can always learn something new). We are very pleased to announce that our trainer Matthew Cook has agreed to come down to do the very first seminar. Matthew is a very accomplished young man with a successful career in the show ring. Those who have already registered for the events may apply those fees to the rescheduled date, to be announced, or they may request a complete refund from Paula Long,
